- One of the players in my campaign took the Observant feat at first level (all the PCs in my campaign are human). He has a 14 Wisdom, so his passive Perception is 17. So far so good. The issue came in when I called for everybody to roll Perception check against a DC of 15. He rolled a 12, which adding in his Wis modifier made his total 14.

The "Observant" feat and "Passive Investigation". Question. So, I am creating a Wizard. I looked up some nice INT feats to get with the Variant Human to have a starting of +2 INT and +1 to another stat. I saw Observant and I was a bit confused at first:

Edit: there is a section of the rules referring to all passive checks. The only one specifically mentioned is Passive Perception. It is always called exactly that. The feat refers to. passive perception and investigation.

But this is going to give any PC with a good passive Perception score, especially one proficient in that ability or with the Observant feat, a strong chance of noticing the slime-tether right away.
